Our Story & Commitment
In 1852, Buhee Nishiyama, a village headman from Kosudo in Echigo, moved to Edo (today’s Tokyo) and opened a shop in Asakusa, a lively temple town. The business began with dried goods and grains, including red beans, and soon became known for its sweets, loved by temple visitors and locals alike.
Since then, we have always chosen the finest ingredients such as azuki beans and sugar, handling them with the greatest care. Our shop name, Echisho Nishiyama, has been passed down for generations as a reminder of the spirit of hospitality at the heart of our work.
Even today, we continue to uphold this tradition: “choosing only the best, and serving our guests with care.”
